Attribute Groups

Attribute groups enable merchants to collect various attributes together to make it easier to manage large volumes of information. Attribute groups are not required. Any attributes not specifically included in a group will appear in the Others attribute group.

Creating a product attribute group

Select Settings in the left column then select Attribute Group.

Select the Product attribute group link

Select Create Attribute Groups and enter the following information.

  • Attribute group title (mandatory and unique) - name for this collection
  • Description (optional) - a brief note on the group’s purpose
  • Priority order (mandatory and unique) - Start from 0 for the first group.

Click on the Add attributes button to add attributes to an attribute group.

  • Editable Attributes
    • Attributes that can be modified
    • One attribute can be editable only in one group
  • Read-only Attributes
    • Attributes that are read-only
    • Attributes added to the editable section can’t be added here
  • Attribute Groups can be assigned a priority order, which is reflected in the Items Detail page of an item.

Select the checkbox next to attributes you want available in that group and then select Add.

  • NOTE: An attribute group must have a minimum of 1 attribute.

Click Save.

Delete an attribute group

Select Settings, then Attribute Group from the left navigation panel and a list of available groups is displayed.

Click on the group you want to remove and select Delete in the upper right section of the page.

Select Yes in the warning dialog and the attribute group will be permanently removed.

Attribute Mapping

Before creating an item, you must map the basic attributes. These are used by Product Catalog to deliver a consistent and reliable experience across channels. They are frequently used by other systems as well, so proper mapping is essential to ensure other systems can read and use data from Product Catalog.

Map product attributes

Product Catalog uses terms like “SKU” to refer to a unique product identifier while some merchants use the terms “UPC” or “Part Number”. Each of the basic attributes must be mapped to exactly one attribute from the list of attributes. There are certain limitations on what can be mapped to these basic attributes.

Mapping product attributes

Select Settings in the left column, then select Attribute mapping.

Select the Map Product Attributes tab.

Use each dropdown to select the product attribute to map to a Product Catalog basic attribute. Detail for each are contained in the table below.

Click on the Save button.

Status- Must be a mandatory attribute- Must be a Boolean type attribute- Name the attribute to be “Active” which can be set to TRUE/FALSE- Mapping cannot be changed after item has been created- Required to maintain the status of item to Active/Disabled- Only items where status is set to Active=TRUE will be available for the commerce API to consume
