Zones are used to specify and prioritize what locations should be used for fulfillment. Once a zone is created, it can be linked to geographic regions and to a network.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that you have the Orders & Inventory Editor or Administrator privileges to fabric Orders. For more information, see the Role-Based Access Control section.

  • Ensure that any location you want to add to a zone is already created. For more information on creating locations, see the Create a Location section.

    • Description (Optional): A description of the zone and its purpose.

Locations

The locations section allows you to set the hierarchy for fulfillment locations to determine which locations are used first if they can fulfill an order.

  1. To determine how location priority is handled, select one of the following options:

    • Absolute: Only one location can be specified per priority level. During order fulfillment, fabric checks locations in priority order within the zone, assessing inventory and any custom fulfillment conditions. If a location can’t fulfill the order, the next one is evaluated in the order that was specified.

    • Tier: Multiple locations can be defined for each priority level. If you choose this option, you’ll need to configure additional logic in your Order Fulfillment Logic (OFL) rules. This is because multiple locations at the same priority level still require criteria to determine which location should be used. For example, if your OFL uses geolocation, it can help decide which location within a tier fulfills the order. Without geolocation logic, the system won’t know which location to select, which can lead to inefficiencies or suboptimal fulfillment decisions.
